A Jaeger-LeCoultre Gyrotourbillon with moon phase, close up

Jaeger-LeCoultre

In 1929 Jaeger-LeCoultre built the Calibre 101 for jewelry watches. It remains the smallest mechanical movement ever made, and Queen Elizabeth II wore one at her coronation. In 2012 it launched the Rendez-Vous for women and gave it an automatic movement of its own, where most brands adapt a men’s calibre, with complications up to the tourbillon and the minute repeater. Women wear the Reverso too, as Amelia Earhart did in the men’s size, and since 2016 JLC has kept one Reverso line only for women.

I can source any watch, new or used, even very hard-to-get. I chose these examples to guide you.

More about Jaeger-LeCoultre

Antoine LeCoultre started in Le Sentier after he invented a machine that cut watch pinions. In 1844 he built the Millionomètre, the first instrument to measure a thousandth of a millimeter, and in 1847 a winding system that did away with the watch key.

LeCoultre began working with the Paris watchmaker Edmond Jaeger in 1903, and the company took the name Jaeger-LeCoultre in 1937. It made the Calibre 101, still the smallest mechanical movement ever produced. The story goes that polo players in India asked for the Reverso. Richemont has owned the company since 2000.
