Vacheron Constantin
Jean-Marc Vacheron took on his first apprentice in Geneva in 1755, and the company has made watches without a break ever since, longer than any other. François Constantin joined as a partner in 1819. Around 1839 the company hired Georges-Auguste Leschot, whose pantograph and other machines made interchangeable parts and helped start industrial watchmaking.
Richemont bought Vacheron Constantin in 1996. In 2015 the company finished the Reference 57260, a pocket watch with 57 complications, then the most complicated watch ever made. It broke that record in 2024 with the Berkley Grand Complication, which has 63 complications.

The Fiftysix takes its design from Vacheron's reference 6073 of 1956, down to a box-shaped crystal modeled on the original's Plexiglas. Two small dials show the day and date, and a gauge at 6 o'clock shows the power remaining.

$273,000 at launch in 2025
Vacheron's engravers cut lines by hand from a Maltese cross, the brand's emblem, out to the edge of the dial, in a pattern Vacheron designed for its 270th anniversary. The tourbillon cage at 6 o'clock forms the same cross, and Vacheron limited the watch to 127 pieces.
