Lange 1 · 38.5mm · Manual wind · 192.025Tap to see the back
Lange 1 Moon Phase
About $56,000 at launch in 2017
A gorgeous watch. If you can wind a watch by hand every day, you'll get more pleasure out of a Lange 1 than you might imagine.

Lange is actually my #1 favorite watch brand, period. I have bought two of their big-date watches and recommended them to many friends.
I can source any watch, new or used, even very hard-to-get. I chose these examples to guide you.

One of my favorite complications. Add another day with the pusher at 10 o'clock and change the GMT city by pushing at 8 o'clock. You MUST wind this watch every day. Not for everyone.

This is their flagship tourbillon with a translucent dial. You can see the wheels working underneath.

Lange 1 · 41.9mm · Automatic · 345.036 ETap to see the back
About $140,000 at launch in 2023
This is a very "haute horlogerie" watch for a low price. It's a perpetual that shows the day of the week, the date, and the month. Like all other Lange perpetuals, it shows the year count (1, 2, 3, 4 in the red window at 6) but not the year. No Lange perpetual shows the year. You MUST keep this watch on your wrist or on a winder.

Saxonia · 45.9mm · Manual wind · 130.039FTap to see the back
About $154,000 at launch in 2017
One of my absolute favorite watches in the world, this watch, which is now discontinued and came in various color/case combinations, has a very strong spring that can be wound to provide 31 days of power. Look at the key slot on the back - you use a special winding key once a month to wind it up and you're good for the entire month. An astonishing complication. I'm not surprised there wasn't that much demand, but it remains a legendary timepiece.

Saxonia · 38.5mm · Automatic · 310.032 ETap to see the back
Around $90,000
This phenomenal timepiece was quietly taken out of production in 2024. It is smaller than the current Lange 1 perpetual. An automatic, it is one of my favorite watches, I even wrote about it in one of my books. As always, it is a perpetual but has no year indicator.

Saxonia · 40.5mm · Manual wind · 607.091FETap to see the back
About $750,000 new in 2025
A stunning accomplishment in striking works and looks. This watch is designed to make a statement - on demand.

Richard Lange · 39mm · Manual wind · 606.079FTap to see the back
About $442,000 at launch in 2022
Perhaps one of the thinnest minute repeaters, a classic watch on par with Breguet.

Richard Lange · 45.5mm · Manual wind · 180.026Tap to see the back
About $216,000 at launch in 2014
As with all other Lange perpetuals, this watch knows the year cycle but doesn't display the year. But the Terraluna has a trick on its caseback: it features an ultra-complex Orbital Moon Phase display. This mechanism tracks the positioning of the moon relative to the earth and the sun with such extreme accuracy that the entire gear train takes 1,058 years before it requires a single day of correction.

Saxonia · 36mm · Automatic · 331.026 ETap to see the back
$63,000 at launch in 2026
This is simply a great watch at a very good price. It knows the lengths of each month, but it actually gives every February 30 days, so you need to correct it once a year. For an automatic at that price and that great looking, it's a fantastic deal.

A very elegant wristwatch practically begging for a tuxedo.
Ferdinand Adolph Lange opened a workshop in Glashütte, in Saxony, in 1845 and founded the town's watch industry. After the Second World War, the Soviet occupation authorities expropriated the company in 1948, and the name disappeared for four decades.
Walter Lange, the founder's great-grandson, revived the firm in 1990. The first new collection came out in 1994, led by the Lange 1 with its oversized date. The Lange factory is one of the most advanced in the world. Richemont has owned Lange since 2000.
